CAN TREKKING MAKE YOU SPIRITUAL

In my experience trekking has two aspects to it, one is physical and the other is spiritual. There are lots of physical benefits like lower risk of heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure and high cholesterol. You will definitely have improved fitness levels and flexibility. But as you trek more and more you will realize it helps you mentally and even spiritually.

Up in the mountains, you break all the cords of drama that happens in your daily life. You find space, learn how to be mindful and live in the moment and appreciate the beauty.  When you are there nature somehow reminds you how insignificant you are in the scheme of things and that’s the moment when you start appreciating your blessings in the vast beauty around you.

The daily chores of life numb your senses but up there all your senses are awake, you start feeling the breeze caressing your skin, you can hear the chirping of the birds, the rustling of the leaves, droplets dripping, the mud on your hand and the connection with mother earth. It lets you forget about what is going on in your life and instead lets you focus on your connection with the supreme.  The silence of nature takes over and you willingly or unwillingly become a part of it.

And if you let this silence linger in you for longer it helps you in some important self-realizations. If you have a difficult problem you are facing in life, a trek can help you relax and connect with your mind in a safe space. By being more relaxed you can connect with people on a deeper level and get a close connection with yourself and the supreme
